Money given to disabled people

Money given to disabled people

I have a debilertating illness, I'm unable to work and struggle through each day, I haven't got a partner to help me, I recieve income support and am told that is the amount I need to live on, I also get dla I have to pay all untility bills, food, cleaning products, it is very hard trying to live on this amount yet everything is going up in price we hear about it on the news, how am I supposed to live without an increase the same as inflation, the only thing I can do is cut back even more.
I don't think this is fair, I can't go out and earn money or get any more money.

Hi fellow sufferers of a government that just doesn't want to know you when you're disabledand under pensionable age. I understand, before any pensioners get offended, that pensions are sometimes hard to live on but at least in winter pensioners get a lump sum of £200 or more to help with their bills, what do we disabled get ? A £10 christmas bonus wow, excuse me for not jumping up off my crippled ass in joy ! I'm on income support and DLA and my husband is my permanant carer and for that he is paid the whopping sum of £49 a week, approx 29p an hour. I dread bills coming through the letterbox and have had to go on pre-payment meters for gas and electricity which they then charge you for having. You have them because you're short of money and they charge you for the priviledge of being in that position. I don't usually bother with politics, and why should I because politicians don't usually bother with the disabled, but I could happily, for want of a better term, sit and put the world to rights on this topic. Unfortunately we cannot threaten to strike for more pay, it would be lovely to give up all my illnesses and disabilities to stand on a picket line for a week, so they have us over the proverbial barrel. My biggest bugbear is when other people say ' you're lucky, in other countries you wouldn't get any help' how please tell me is being in agonising pain, mental distress, trapped within a useless body lucky ???

Usually money goes up bit to compensate for price rises , DLA goes up a bit every year too . It may not seem like they realise , and the few extra pounds they give you may not help but as far as i'm concerned every little helps ! . I am also in the same situation , I cannot work , and feel useless to the changes going on in oncern to price rises but I try not to worry as stress makes my condition worse , I do not go out a lot , nearly all of my clothes are second hand , I buy food that are on offer and reduced and use coupons found online to get free delivery on my grocery shop ect at ukvouchercodes . or money saving expert site helps too . I do worry about bills going up too high as they already seem high but as I said I try not to worry too much . I save where possible so that can help in emergencies , ever little helps .

I'm a Social Worker and I work with adults with Physical and Sensory disabilities ( I also have a disability myself so have personal experience of this) and I have witnessed time and time again how difficult it is for people with disabilities to manage financially. I don’t think most people realise how expensive it is to have to pay for transport or special shoes or, as has been mentioned, to pay for heating bills. Remember that lots of disabled people are at home all day and have mobility problems so often need to have the heating on more often and for longer than the average able bodied person. The injustice of it makes me furious!

Snap, us three should meet up and have a good old nag, I am on incapacity benefit and dla and hubby is on Income support, e are in private rented after we lost our home last year due to hubby have renall failure, he has just had fistula operation ready for dyalisis in about 8 weeks or so, we have two kids and still have to pay rent of £120 per month, i re- applied to the council and theys aid because you have £17 yes £17 a week spare we didn't qualify for any more rent to be paid, how can u live on and have £17 spare, that doen't pay for anything, we are lucky to a certan degree as we have a car on DLA but then we lose £150 a month to have the car so we don't gain anything, Hubby has £30 a week for income support which is supposed to help 4 people, as Kel says I buy all our clothes from charity shops and I get reduced items in the supermarket, we also buy from the butchers in our local market, he does good meat cheap, we have cut back so much they we might have to be evicted from our home again, the landlord is a friend of ours but he isn't a charity he still has to pay the mortgage on this house and the council have told us they will put us in b/b , thats no good with hubby's kidney failure, I am sorry but i am not usually racist against anybody but with all these illegal immigrants coming in here, we have no houses left, the council are bound by law to house them or they are infirnging against their human rights, what about our human rights, hubby cannot claim anymore money ebcaue he was self employed and didn't pay enough stamps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, how stupid he paid all his contributions and worked since he was 16, straight from school, he is now 40 and on the scrap heap, he has to go to a medical bpoard to keep geting income support, and if they say he can work we are in deep deep shit (sorry), he cannot work ,he is waiting for dyalisis, i know people who do work when on dyalisis but everybody is different, he is the type of man that wants to work for his family, but cannot, how do the government allow this ti happen when they house illegal immigrants because of human rights...........I am afraid Topsy258 and Kel and a lot of other people out there too.......that we are in a group of people that the governement don't care about, we have no human rights left, they go to all the illegal people who DON'T put into our system
