Spaceballs is a great sci-fi comedy that everyone should see, It is loosely based on star wars and also references various other SF films and programmes, Lone star and his sidekick Barf owe a debt to pizza the hut, and so are hired to rescue a kings runaway daughter/bride who is kiddnapped by spaceballs, who then use her in their plan to steal all the air from her homeworld, This is really very funny.
An absolutely brilliant movie, its probably the best sci fi comedy, a must see movie. Directed by mel brooks, it does use a little of the stars wars theme, but not that much. Spaceballs will be added to my dvd collection. You have to watch this open minded and not take it seriously, to enjoy the full effects of this slap stick daft comedy. You will be laughing all the way through, it is quite an old movie now but still worth watching with the kids.
Spaceballs was fantastic and remember watching this in my teens and absolutely wetting myself with laughter. I haven't seen it in years and while Galaxy Quest was good it wasn't as good as the original Spaceballs. I believe I was sick at home from school and mum let me hire it to keep me entertained along with Evil Dead. Loved Spaceballs but Evil Dead scared the living daylights out of me and I think if mum had known what it was about would never have let me see it. Kept me awake many nights till I saw the second one. Then that kept me away. I was only 14 and had a great imagination.
