i never find the need to watch BBC TV i find it boring.they dont seem to care what they put on because there money from the licence guarantees the stay in business. i find myself watching from a selection of around 200 channels on SKY for £17.00 a month and feel i should have the option to not recieve the BBC channels and therefore be free not to pay them for nothing. in our supposed free country i am no longer free to choose what i want to watch and i'm forced to pay for something i dont want. how do you feel about it?
Yeah as Cliver said, it is all about if your tv has the capabilities of being able to receive the channels! I think we have found a niche market here guys! Someone should develop a tv that will not be able to receive the BBC channels and radio signals and then a lot of people who are unhappy with the BBC programmes can buy the TV and will not have to pay for the stupid TV licenses when poor quality programmes are broadcasted!
its all about making money - they dont care if were not happy. They shoud have a system where you choose from a list of your situation (i.e watch sky only)..but can;t you watch the BBC cahnnels via sky?? i suppose ky wont pay the BBC so they get it directly from us?? am i correct or dim at the moment? ha :)
If you check your "television license" you will find that it actually 'licenses you to use equipment that can receive television AND radio signals'. So unless you 'adapt' your television so that you cannot receive any programmes that are non-sattelite/cable, get rid of your radios, and have a hi-fi system that has no built-in radio, then you have to pay. I know people that removed their aerials, watched sattelite/cable only, and had no radio that tried to avoid paying for their tv license - they failed because their televisionwas CAPABLE of receiving signals from the BBC.
Until the BBC completely switches to digital it is entirely right that they should force you to pay. You claim that you never watch the BBC, but can you prove it? TV has begun the switch to digital, and once that is complete then there is a good case for BBC becoming optional as they would have the ability to block BBC funded channels from your TV, but until that time you still have to pay the license fee like everyone else. The license works out to just over £2 a week, hardly breaking the bank is it? And you do get a lot of good programming for that price.
