my belief is we r living hell now . and heavan isnt up there it is actually over there , and as long as u can forgive urself then u can be forgiven anything .

heaven is here on earth and the word is a description for a situation, a beautiful place, something that tastes delicious and you cant describe it any other way. Nirvanha is the real word to describe the state of consciousness that we all hope to achieve after death. Apologies for sounding so heavy so early in the day!
Personally I'd prefer to know NOW how to get to Heaven, not just to "hope that nothing you do upsets the big guy upstairs" as ravenstar said. To reply to another poster who wonders why Catholics don't just repent at the last minute: there is a confusion about repenting here. Assuming for a moment that God exists and is all-powerful and all-knowing, don't you think He would know a true repentance from a one where the person doesn't really mean it? And going back to the question: How much can we get away with and still get to Heaven? Well, anyone who tries to "get away with stuff" won't go to heaven full stop!! Why? Because he doesn't really love God and want to follow God's way of life (which is not all strict rules and regulations!). You can't fool God and we make our choice of Heaven with God or an eternity without Him (without love, light etc) by our decision to follow Him here
We used to sing a song called heaven is in my heart and seems appropriate to say we can find this state within the christian path...However, I know people who have had outer body experiences in near death experiences say that they see a tunnel of light and lots of light, perfect countryside and some family and friends who have reached there already...Also, they day that God is full of light and it shines out so bright that you can hardly look into his eyes without falling down in repentance...
