Why do people smoke??

because most of them started smoking as they were teenagers and back in those days they thought it was big and hard and they got addicted

Because people try it out when they are younger and think its cool. Then they don't stop and get addicted. Then it is no longer cool

first off its addictive! I think theres a hell of alot of people who start when they are younger and are then unable to stop. Also it is an enjoyable thing to do, as gross and unhealthy as it is, a ciggie does complement a coffee, a good whiskey or a cold pint very well. Itis an anti-social habit, it does smell, it is unhealthy and everybody knows all of this but to alot of people as I said it is still enjoyable. But who knows really I'm sure alot of smokers have all different reasons to smoke, I do.

sometimes its a habit, as in - to not get bored, to occupy yourself. Just one of those things i suppose, just like, why do people get drunk? yeah its fun i suppose but nothing good comes from it in the long run. hmm. interesting. x

i know the risks health problems.
smokers aren't blind or stupid, we do it because we enjoy it.
i cant understand how people keep eating marmite but they do it because they enjoy it.
smoking is a traditional human pass time i like to carry on tradition,
plus im not a quitter
and wont pander to peer pressure from you whining non smokers.

Most people try it, and then do it to look "cool" when it actually makes them look stupid. I began doing it when I was stressed, and got quickly addicted, but I have quit now!

i started smoking when i was younger and started so as to feel i fitted in with the rest of the group. i was one of the unlucky ones who ended up becoming hooked on cigaretts and smoked for 4 years i would have still been smoking today if i had not fell pregnant(7 months now) i think that people smoke for lots of different reasons vut the most common bein peer pressure and the wanting to just fit in

yeah smoking is a disgusting habbit but im sure you have a disgusting habbit too. i smoke and wished id never started and ive tried to give up. but smoking is highly addictive so thats why peopls smoke. and how they start is because os crowds and gangs people hang out with they think it looks cool.

I've never understood why people moan about other people's habits. If you don't smoke, fine.
