Not me. The Americans and the Chinese dont care and they produce most of the worlds pollution and are damaging the environment more that anyone else so what difference can people in the tiny UK make? Its pointless so why bother.
I do care about recycling etc as I hate seeing landfill and rubbish everywhere. With regards to cutting down omissions etc I am more interested from the point of view that we are creating horrible smog that is terrible for everyone's health and it is proven that in high smog societies that children are born with increased cases of asthma etc. I also focus on saving energy but more from the point of view that the power is so darned expensive that every penny saved is important. I think we should all care about our planet and environment if we want it to be habitable but don't necessarily have concerns over global warming.
There is no secret about the debate on man-made climate change. Scientists disagree. However, let’s face it, if there were to be a conspiracy it would be more beneficial to the nebulous conspirators to suppress evidence in favour of man-made climate change rather than the other way about. To a great extent it would let governments off the hook with regards to environmental issues wouldn’t it? I reckon, that because we’re almost completely ignorant of the nitty-gritty of the science behind the evidence both for and against then we should keep open minds and proceed with caution. Folks on here can think whatever they want on the issue of course, but they should never forget that they know very little about it. As for China et al not caring about the issue; yes this is frustrating, but the UK isn’t the only country that is being cautious about the evidence. In short I think it’s better to be safe than sorry.
I agree with magnius on the Global warming issue - if the earth is warming up, it's been doing so for a long time; after all, people used to skate on the River Thames in Tudor times, and skating on local ponds and lakes seems to have been a normal thing to do in the past. I do think pollution is an important issue though - I've stayed in Cairo where the level of pollution is really bad at times. I think we also need to be careful with the earth's resources. People tend to lump all these together; I don't think pollution causes global warming, but I do think it's an important issue that needs to be addressed.
Not so much in our lifetime but if you have kids and they have kids and so on, you are damaging the earth for their inhabitance. Think of them, they are the future!
Well let's be honest, we all should kind of care. As far as I am concerned I don't know enough about the actual science to decide on a definitive opinion of the cause of global warming. I'm not even sure I'm entirely convinced that global warming is happening, all the graphs i have seen look like a fairly natural fluctuation. The point is: I don't know. If global warming is caused by man, then we should probably start panicking now. And if it is not? Then there is nothing to be lost by trying to reduce our impact on the environment, is there? As for China, they are really only beginning to enter into the 'superpower community'. The UK managed to use up the vast majority of its natural resources during the last century. China is just beginning to use theirs, yes its frustrating, but can we really blame them? The UK can make a big difference, every raindrop raises the sea. Personally, I try to live as guilt free as i possibly can. This benefits me as well as the world. I am a vegan, my home runs mainly on solar and wind power, and everything that possibly can be recycled or composted is. Maybe it doesn't make a difference, but at least I'm trying. If everyone made a few changes, we could make one massive one!
The belief that Global warming is caused by man is a complete myth. There are dozens of research papers that are kept away from the public that prove global warming is simply a natural phenomenon that occurs in a recognised pattern and has done for millennia. Due to solar activity and other natural factors, the planets temperature rises of it’s own accord for short periods of time before settling back down again, in fact there has been no recorded temperature rise of the planet since 2001 and this is despite a massive increase in CO2 emissions in that same period. People need to relax, take no notice of profit hungry eco-nazi’s and just enjoy life as they always have done, let Earth take care of itself as it always has done.
