Do you find that people who have decided to become vegetarians, for whatever reason, almost insist that non-vegetarians adopt their eating ethics. I've notice on the Come Dine With Me TV program that both vegetarians and teatotallers, (these can be one in the same person), will not serve either meat products or alcohol to guests, (in one programme a woman had a large collection of unopened bottles). However, special menu's are provided for vegetarians to cater, (excuse the pun), for their needs. Why do veggies appear so intolerant or teatotallers not provide even the one or two glass of wine? Not really knowing many veggies, is this a distorted view or are they more flexible that these programmes portray?
vegetarians, jesus, i was hoping that this would never come up. i don't mind people that are veggies but for christ sakes don't say ANYTHING to me when I tuck into a juicy steak! self righteous, overly important, snobby, overly and misgiuded morality and ethics.....shove it up ya ****!
I have been a vegetarian for over 25 years and I have been made fun of for it loads of times. It is entirely my free choice that I have chosen not to eat meat and I think that other people should respect it whether they agree with me or not. I do no critisize people who eat meat as it is not my business to do so. I became a vegetarian as I do not like the taste of meat so I decided years ago not to eat it.
Vegetarians are a strange bunch and without sounding like Gordon Ramsey, i for the most part dislike them, but it's like anything. People who are against murder, but are ok with abortion. People who don't like the unruly yob children that wreck our streets, but let their own children grow up without much discipline. I hate hypocritical vegetarians, as mentioned before, the whole eat fish, not red meat, wear leather, don't do dairy type business. It seems relative to what the person likes. OOoooh I don't mind a bit of fish, quite like cod, can't give that up, but I will be supportive of the pigs that are reared especially to be eaten, by not eating them! It can be ridiculous. Having said that I need to be tolerant as both my wives sisters are veggie!
Not all are like that I think it shows their personality traits more than their choice. I have a friend who is a vegetarian and has been since she was around 17. She cooks meat for her husband when he wants meat and if you go round to her place she will be prepare meat dishes unless everyone says they want vegetarian. She will go out and eat at restaurants as says nothing if those with her eat meat. I think those vegetarians who force their views so do so because their personality is the type where they believe they are right and others are wrong rather than respecting others views. I watch the program you mention as well and do notice the real whinge they do about their food yet force their visitors to eat vegetarian with no option otherwise.
my uncle and aunty are veggie and I tried it for a year but gave up i don't eat that much meat anyway but i like bacon and hate sausages because they're made of intestines
i am very intolerant of veggies, especially ones who say they are veggie then eat fish, or if they wear leather etc. if you can eat fish or wear leather then why not other meat and at least eat the rest of the cow!!!
Yes I think it is a distorted view walt my sister and two of my daughter inlaws are vegies and not one of them has ever tried to influence me in any way whatsovever in fact they are probably just the opposite. They all cook meat for other members of their family and none of them are teatotallers in fact if they come to my house they nearly always say "don't cook me anything special I will just have everything you have minus the meat, fish or poultry," I always do cook them something different but none of them would complain if I didn't. So in fact I think they are very tolerant of us, it must be hard seeing people all around you eating something that you find offensive, but yet they NEVER complain.
