I love starting my day with a good cup of coffee whether I'm at home or staying somewhere else, but nothing beats a warm croissant with some cheese and real orange juice if I'm staying in a hotel, especially for business. I also love fresh fruit salad as it is very refreshing, but can't bother to prepare in my house. If I'm on a weekend break with my husband, I might have semi-English breakfast; fried egg, sausage, hash brown, beans, and bacon sometimes. If I have this though, I'm not good for anything whole day as it is too much food and too much calorie to start the day.
We stay in Premier Travel Inns a lot and their breakfasts recently got better with the introduction of porridge. Honey is available and a variety of jams but I miss the golden syrup. I usually start with porridge or Special K with added fresh fruit salad.Fruit juice is orange or pomegranate. Next course is 2 rashers of bacon, scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, and occasionally, baked beans. I advise you to steer clear of the tasteless, fatty sausages and the hash browns. If I’m really hungry I have a couple of slices of toast with apricot jam and/or a yogourt, with tea, of course. I have been known to indulge in a chocolate muffin too. A whopping breakfast means I don’t eat again til about 4pm (cup of tea and a slice of cake) so there’s just dinner to buy. Kids under 16 eat free breakfast so win-win for a family break.
