I get bitten at the drolp of a hat but I have discovered that taking 3 Brewers yeast tablets a day has finally made me quite repellent to the insects. So far, I have only been bitten once in the garden and that went away fairly quicky. Normally, I get bitten, they turn septic and then I have problems such as in Mallorca in May, i got bitten and two days later I had to go to hospital as my left arm from the hand to the elbow swelled up like a balloon and started to go purpley/blue. A quick jab, some anti inflammatories and two days later it went down. For a non drinker, I obviously have yummy blood in mozzie terms.

Yeah, would help if you'd written a few words yourself. Insect bites in one form or another are almost inevitable if you spend much time outside, particularly if you're in the countryside or gardening, one of the down sides to it I suppose but still not enough to make me stay cooped up indoors all day. I get hayfever so take an antihistamine for that and if it relieves the effects from some insect bites too then that's a bonus, it says on the info they're good for treating stings too but don't take them without getting advice first. Hate those gadfly (horsefly?) bites the most, you can hear the blimin things whizzing round you as they home in on you but if you don't feel them land then it's YOW! as they bite!

What about them ? They are very irritating and sometimes very painful. I do seem to get more insect bites than the rest of my family but this could be because I tend to spend more time out of doors and certainly more time gardening. I find that applying an aloe vera based gel helps to soothe the itching and reduce the swelling. I believe antihistamine can help but wouldn't use them without individual medical advice. I dont know if these points give the sort of response you were looking for.

you have my sympathy im mozzy bait too, istart drinking bitter lemon and take vitamin b1 in early spring to build up a resistance, vit b1 makes your skin unpalletable to the little #=+#s, bit late for this year so try it next year, glass of bitter lemon and 1 vit b1 a day, works for me except some of the scottish mozzies are a bit stuborn.

I do not seem to get bitten that much. However, the mosquitoes in Russia treated me like 'meals on heels' when I was there a couple of Summers back! Made no difference what 'protection' I used - lotions, potions, creams, 'plug ins', wrist bands, even nets! The little b*st*rds still munched away at me. The worse one, though, was when I was horse riding, and got 'troughed' by a horse-fly - I had a swelling from foot to to top of ankle, and one hane looked like I was wearing a boxing glove! There was a funny incident though - we went to stay in a 'camp' alongside a lake, and when I ran out of the sauna (all bollocky-buff, well it was past midnight) to dive in the lake, there were swarms of 'mossies' trying to dine on this English Delicacy, before it submerged - then they would wait for me to break surface and get eaten themselves by the very clever colony of bats that lived in the area!! The bats were picking them off easily, and were literally brushing past me, it was quite fascinating.

I am damned with regards to mosquitos and can be in a group of 10 people and I will be the only one bitten. Also doesn't help that when I get bitten I have a mid reaction, the bite swells up like a golf ball and the itching can drive me insane. In saying that I find antihystamine's are fantastic for me and reduce the swelling and take the itching out completely which is fantastic. Also a cold damp flannel can take the itching out if you don't want to pop a pill. Insect sprays don't work for me unless I spray every single centimetre of my body as have worn trousers before and sprayed all viewable skin and been bitten in a place that I didn't think a mosquito could have reached.
