In some respects I think it is a wonderful development as it will certainly encourage the lazy to use their cars less. The Government must be rubbing their hands with glee as tax is calculated as a percentage and the more the price of petrol rises the more tax they can cream off for a rainy day. I am a car driver, within reason - I would certainly not use it to do the 4 mile round trip to Sainsbury - that is pure laziness and nothing more. However, I am required to use one for my work because the public transport system in this country is so very unreliable and does not reach the places I am required to visit. I am reimbursed for petrol but at a flat rate of 40 pence per mile. With the cost of petrol rising, I believe I will soon be running at a loss.
Occassional ones why not, I am sure it costs more to get as time goes on with the wages if the workers and transport taxes etc! but the recent hikes NO WAY
no its because the world is running out of fossil fuels (petrol) so the price will get higher and higher as they drill deeper and deeper until near the end only the military will have fuel and we will have to return to horse and dog carts.
My husband drive an HGV for a living delivering food to the supermarkets. Before everyone starts jumping and down and moaning about lorries on the road and pollution, remember one thing a full lorry stops 20 smaller vans from hitting the road everyday and all my husbands lorries he drives are checked for emissions and unless someone cuts him up, drives on his blind side or trys to beat him to a turning he is fine and also ,we hear people are finding it difficult to feed their families know ,imagine what it would be like if the food was not delivered in trucks in bulk, and if these petrol rises continue the shops will be empty as the firms will fold and we would get really hungry and have to search for food with any money we had left.
I think it is ridiculous. My partner starded work last monday and it's costing nearly hundred pound now back and for work, where it would have cost a lot less before. I hope the prices go back down.
