I am a pagan mother of three, my oldest being in school. I have recently found out that some schools are not allowed to give time off to pupils who are Pagan/Wiccan to celebrate the Sabbats. I do not think this is right as other "well known religions" are entitled to time off school if their festivals fall on school time. If one religion is allowed then I think all should be.

I would like to be able to celebrate the festivals with my family, but the school year can't possibly accommodate every religion's festivals. I think if they were optional discretional holidays (i.e. you take off the festivals relevant to you) it would be difficult to do that as a teacher, as I'd have to set work ahead of time etc. But then I suppose if I were a more 'out' pagan, I wouldn't worry about asking for the sabbats off. I do fear that still today, some parents would be unhappy about me teaching their kids if they knew (ps I'm in a sixth form college so they're all 16 - 19).

This weekend, my daughter wants to go and visit where me and her Dad first met. It was in a place called Garswood ( which some of you Northeners, and definitely carol, will know) I was working as a market researcher there, but we didnt work teatimes, we did afternoons then evenings when people had had their meal. On the first da of the job, naturally enough, us reseachers headed for a pub while some of the good folk of Garswood where having their tea, and some others were propping up the bar. So this weekend, 31 years after that first meeting in that pub, me and my daughter, health permitting, will take a train ride out to where i first met her father, now my ex. Where did you meet your other half (or ex?) sorry if i am repeating a topic, have a vague idea i have seen it before, but cant find it in the search box.

I had just finished my basic training in Plymouth when I met my hubby. It was love at first sight and a whirlwind romance, had only known each other for 2 months before we decided to marry - that was the end of November and we married in the 4th of January the following year. We have been married for 6 1/2 years now with three kids so some whirlwind romances do work.
