I greatly admire reporter who go out of their way to cover difficult subjects, so this is no criticism of that kind of journalist. Lately though it strikes me that there's a trend for reporters to put themselves in the centre of every story and spend far to much time burbling on about their feelings. And then when some unpleasant, and not unexpected happens they feel surprised and aggrieved. Have reporters become too touchy feely?
