Christmas appears to have changed from being primarily a religious holiday where we worship Jesus, God, etc to a merchandising heaven where we prove how much we love our families and friends by how much we spend and how hard we hunt for that perfect present. So many businesses rely on the Christmas trade to survive and our whole economy seems to be geared up for the money spent during the traditional religious holidays (Easter, Christmas, etc).
So has the emphasis shifted too much from religion to money?
