X factor used to be quite good but now it's become a bit of a joke. Yes there are some good singers on the show, but none of them really have the 'x-factor' the programme is supposed to be looking for. I think it wouldn't hurt to take a break from some of these reality shows, they come round annually, it feels as if the last x-factor was just a few weeks ago. It would feel a lot more exciting if it took a year off and then came back in 2011 - there would be real anticipation.

I personally haven't got a clue, my older children had mobiles when they were 12 or 13, but my Son is asking for one for Christmas & he is nearly 9, I think he should wait at least another year.

A child shouldn't need a mobile phone until he or she is old enough to go out on their own. They may want one, but this is only to contact their friends and apart from this costing money, it's just unnecessary. Kids want all sorts of things, doesnt mean you should always give in to them! I would give them a PAYG mobile and let themn spend their own pocket money on topping it up - that would ensure they know the value of money. Plus, you can always call them, even if there isn't any credit.

I feel that it has gone to far and they shouldn't have been suspended, yes they made a mistake, but people do a lot worst out there and get away with it

I’m so glad someone has chosen this as a topic as I’m bursting with opinions on this one! Here are all the points I want to get off my chest:

1)Anyone who heard the broadcast will know that it’s only really Jonathan Ross that said something insulting about the granddaughter. 2) When the show was first broadcast a good 10 days ago or so, the BBC only had 2 complaints. Now the media have whipped up a hysterical frenzy, the BBC has had 18,000 complaints. And I’m guessing quite a few of those haven’t even heard the show. 3) The girl is part of a group famous for gothic, sexual and violent performances. Research them and then tell me if you think she has the right to be prissy over this!! 4) Both presenters are well known for being controversial. Anyone listening to their show should expect nothing less – Brand’s show does go out at 10pm on a Saturday night on radio 2, hardly primetime for children. 5) The fault really lies with the producers who let this go out on air. They should be suspended, not the talent! Or Ross and Brand could be made to make a big donation to a charity like Children in Need and make their own apologies to Andrew Sachs (which they’ve done already)

This type of hysterical reaction by the public makes me mad, and it’s mostly the media to blame for whipping up such a storm.
