Is it just me or does more and more TV airtime seem to be taken up with mindless reality TV? Some of it has so-called celebrities desperate to get on camera, while some shows just seem to offer hours and hours of maladjusted everyday people living their mundane lives before our eyes. Have the population become voyeurs? Do the majority of people actually enjoy this? What happened to well thought out, scripted programming with some aim or point to it? I'd really like to know if I'm the only one who misses shows with actors/ presenters, scripts, storylines etc.

I think the problem is that people spend so much time now in front of the tv that often they watch something just because it is on and then almost get addicted to it. I think that before we spent less time in front of the tv and therefore were more selective about what we watched and so the tvs had to work to get an audience, now they know that people will sit for hours in front of the idiot box so why work as hard. I think the shows at present that are good are few and far between and its the main reason that I spend so little time watching tv. I tend to record maybe 6 shows a week that I watch (most of them are on late at night for some unknown reason) and thats it.
